According to Decorative Art report Afam News, From intricately crafted, colourful landscapes, to 3D embroideries that jump off the hoop, experimenting with needle and thread has proven popular among crafters in recent years. one such creative is french embroidery artist bernita broderi who captures her subject before adding life-like three dimensional hair from flowing thread.
Each piece is made by hand, using cotton threads and beads stitched into raw cotton fabric. more often than not broderi renders only the silhouette of the figure with no preference for any colour in particular. others include more detailed designs, using floral motifs to extend the image beyond just the head.
Hair is at the center of broderi’s work. each subject is embellished with long tresses made up of cascading threads which have been fashioned into various hairstyles. by using different shades, the artist creates intricately formed and life-like plaits seemingly held together and decorated with floral arrangements. you can see more of her embroideries on instagram, and purchase work in her etsy store.
