According to Graphic Design Report Afam News, Art and technology collaborative teamlab presents ‘living digital forest’ at pace beijing, as its first major solo exhibition in china. the immersive site-specific installation features fifteen of the collective’s most representative works, bringing their unique artistic world of digital technology to chinese audiences.
Teamlab transforms the 1,500 square meter exhibition space into a synesthetic labyrinth using real-time projections and interactive technology. the flower artwork shifts and grows under the influence of the viewer’s actions, ensuring that visual states can never be replicated.
The work is rendered in real time by a computer program which brings the flowers to life. ‘the seasons change gradually across the installation space,’ explains the design team. ‘a seasonal year of flowers blossom according to the changing seasons, and the place where they grow gradually moves’.
‘Teamlab’, a media art group comprising over 400 specialists, has presented their projects worldwide. the collective carries out collaborative experiments to challenge traditional forms of expression and push the boundaries of art and technology. past projects, such as an exhibition at mifuneyama rakuen park, reflects a close relationship with nature. the collective seeks to interpret the natural world without harming it.
‘living digital forest’ will be on view at pace beijing until november 20, 2017.
